5 Essential AC Maintenance Tips for Kozhikode Summer

July 12, 2026 AirQuick Cooling Experts

Kozhikode's hot and humid summers put a huge load on home air conditioners. Without proper care, AC units consume excess electricity, experience frequent breakdowns, and fail to provide optimal cooling. Here are 5 essential maintenance tips to ensure your split or window AC performs perfectly this summer.

1. Clean the Air Filters Regularly

Dust and debris collect on the air filters, blocking regular airflow and forcing the fan motor to work harder. Remove the filters and wash them under running water every two weeks. Clean filters can reduce your AC energy consumption by up to 15%.

2. Schedule a Professional Deep Jet Clean

A simple filter wash isn't enough for the internal cooling coils. Dirt builds up deep inside the evaporator coils, reducing heat absorption. We recommend booking a professional high-pressure jet pump wash at least once a season to flush out all mold and deep-seated dust.

3. Inspect the Condenser Coil (Outdoor Unit)

The outdoor unit is exposed to our salty and dusty air. Make sure there is at least two feet of clearance around the outdoor unit for proper heat exchange. Keep it clear of trash, dried leaves, and debris.

4. Check for Refrigerant / Gas Leaks

If your AC is blowing warm air or you notice ice forming on the copper pipes, it indicates a refrigerant leak. Running an AC with low gas levels can permanently damage the compressor. Have a certified technician check pressure and weld leaks before refilling gas.

5. Keep the Drain Line Clear

Humidity causes significant water condensation. If the drain pipe is clogged with dirt, the water will backup and leak into your room. Flush the drain line during your routine servicing to prevent structural damage and water spots.
